Do You Solemnly Swear To Ignore the Constitution?
by Andrew P. Napolitano

Everyone in government takes an oath to uphold the Constitution. But few do so. Do the people we send to the federal government recognize any limits today on Congress's power to legislate? The answer is: Yes, their own perception of whatever they can get away with.

But Where Did Bush Go Wrong?
By Patrick J. Buchanan

The failure of the Bush presidency lies not in a failed execution of policy but in the policies themselves and the neoconservative ideology that informed them.

Guy Fawkes Day

Remember, remember, the Fifth of November,
Gun powder, treason and plot!
I see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!

Very appropriately, this year, Guy Fawkes Day (the anniversary of when Guy Fawkes supposedly attempted to, all on his little lonesome, to blow up the Parliament in England and kill James I & IV along with the members of Parliament) should come the day after election day in the United States. For, no matter which goon - between the candidates put forward by the Two-Headed Monster - won, we would be saddled with the most liberal president in United States history. And we have had our share of leftist presidents. Just think, if we were on the Julian calendar, we could call it the Oktober Revolution.

Regardless, things are not going to get better anytime soon. After all, we have the benefits of the Bush administration and the Congresses of the last 8 years to reap first. Obama, like Bush before him, will be blamed for a lot. From a positive perspective (odd for me, right?) this could really be the best thing to happen.

Could we see a return to the Republican Party of the 1930s-1960s? Or at least the one of the 1980s and 1990s? Maybe...maybe the GOP has learned its lesson of nominating socialists and liberal, and once again be voice of limited government and Constitutional principles.

You know a Democrat has to be in power again, because I found myself agreeing with Rush Limbaugh today. I haven't agreed with Limbaugh on anything in eight years. But, today, ole Rush said that "the conservative movement does not need to be rebuilt...We had some people abandon the conservative movement, and they need to be abandoned." Bingo, El Rushbo. By the way, where have you been for the last eight years? Some weirdo has been impersonating you on the radio uttering all kinds of liberal nonsense.

Limbaugh didn't stop there, either. He went on to say that the GOP needs to have a "cleansing ... like we haven't seen in a long time."

Now, the question is, will we remember this November 5th two years from today when we have the next Congressional elections?
