Baldwin 2008 5/2/08

MISSOURI VIEWPOINTS - Interview with Constitution Party’s Presidential Nominee Chuck Baldwin

During the discussion, Baldwin answered the "wasted vote" question that is lobbed at third party candidates by saying he hopes to “take votes away from the Republican Party” because "...In some ways, Republicans have been more disastrous" than Democrats in Congress and the White House.

IF I WERE PRESIDENT
By Pastor Chuck Baldwin/NewsWithViews.com

Republicans tout themselves as being "pro-life." Yet, the GOP controlled both houses of Congress and the White House for six years and did absolutely nothing to overturn Roe or end abortion-on-demand. Under my administration, we could end legal abortion in a matter of days, not decades. And if Congress refused to pass Dr. Paul's bill, I would use the constitutional power of the Presidency to deny funds to protect abortion clinics. Either way, legalized abortion ends when I take office.

INSANITY & "SUICIDES"

The GOP has its own Rev. Wright

While Sen. Obama has to explain what he knew and when he knew it about Wright’s angry sermons, the Bush Family floats above its financial and political associations with the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, a South Korean theocrat who had denounced the United States as "Satan’s harvest" and likened American women to "prostitutes." In his angry sermons, Moon has gone further than saying "God-damn America" – as Wright did – to vowing to sweep aside American democracy and individualism as he builds a one-world state.

CHUCK BALDWIN FOR PRESIDENT

This information comes courtesy of Teno Groppi, and much of what he wrote regarding this is reprinted below.

I am pleasantly surprised that the Constitution Party nominated Chuck Baldwin over Alan Keyes. While Keyes is in all likelihood, an honorable man, his motives in just recently moving to the Constitution Party are questionable. I even voted for Keyes in the 2000 GOP primary, as I believed him to be the most moral and upstanding of the 2000 GOP choices. No doubt, he still stands he and shoulders above the likes of George W. Bush and John McCain. However, the Constitution Party has been courting Keyes for several years, and he has refused every time.

Late last year he chose to make a last minute bid for the GOP nomination. Keyes made the claim that there were no true conservatives running. What? There was Ron Paul, but Keyes chose not to back the Texas Congressman, but instead to make another run of his own. Now, after a few months of that not panning out, he runs from the GOP and finally accepts offers from the Constitution Party.

I hope that Alan Keyes motives are pure, and that it is only coincidental that he recently "saw the light" regarding the GOP. But, ones does have to scratch his head and wonder.

Regardless, Alan Keyes did not receive the Constitution Party nomination, but rather the 2004 Constitution Party VP nominee, Pastor Chuck Baldwin of Pensacola, Florida. For more on that, Teno wrote:

In a stunning surprise, Pastor Chuck Baldwin beat him by a 75%-25% margin on the strength of an excellent speech by CP standard-bearer Howard Phillips, exposing Keyes as a neocon phony.

All you Huckabee supporters who wanted to support a Christian, a Baptist preacher no less, here's your chance. Pastor Baldwin is not a religious and political liberal like Huckabee, Baldwin is the real deal (of course that means Christians will now find 101 ways to justify supporting McCain instead of Baldwin).

Full audio downloadable of Howard Philips' speech yesterday (click here).

If you listen to Howard's excellent speech, Chairman Jim Clymer comes for a couple minutes right afterward and criticizes Howard for denigrating an honorable man ("I'm not here to preside over a convention where an honorable man is denigrated, and I ... feel that that has happened.). Then he said, "I believe that we should be a party of truth, a party of principle". All Howard did was tell the TRUTH about Keyes, and he hardly even mentioned Keyes by name (except when he identified him as a friend he respected) so as not to make it a personal attack.

Here are some clips from Phillip's speech:

"The Democrats say that this election is about change; I say it's about choice - not in the abortion sense, but in the sense of our deciding whether our party will continue to exist. There is already a neocon party; it's called the Republicans. There is a candidate for the nomination of our party, who until about a week ago was a Republican, and who is a neocon and supports all the neocon principles. We have to choose between being a neocon party or the Constitution Party."

"People have joined us, and they joined Ron Paul - and the candidate I favor by the way was a very close supporter of Ron Paul. The neocon candidate who challenges Chuck Baldwin regularly denounced Ron Paul and the policies which he advocated. He often sounded like Rudy Giuliani in his denunciation of Ron Paul's position whether we should get of Iraq. And of course Ron Paul was with the principles of this platform and this party and let me say Ron is someone with whom I've worked since he first came to Congress. I've worked closely with his Congressional staff, with his campaign staff, and let me tell you that Chuck Baldwin is a hero to those folks because Chuck Baldwin was there on the front lines for Ron Paul."

"If our principles are excluded from the 2008 campaign, they could be lost to history. Ideas which are not advocated in a political context are lost to history. I urge you my dear friends to choose the nominee who is duty-driven, not ego-driven - a man who joined our party more than five years ago, not less than one week ago...Our candidate, if he's Chuck Baldwin, whose disgust with the policies of George Bush led him to leave the Republican Party early in the Bush administration, not to linger until a week ago."

"With Chuck Baldwin it's not personal ambition, it's servant leadership. My friends, in some respects, Dr. Baldwin's opponent, a man who I do respect and I'd admire and I've loved as a friend, is in fact worse than the GOP on some issues. Well, the GOP says it's a tax-cutting policy, Alan Keyes says he favors compulsory national - he favors a national sales tax, which according to the advocates of the so-called Fair Tax, which was Huckabee's, would impose a 30% tax on many sales. That would kill the automobile industry. It would further kill the real estate industry. It would further destroy our economy. Chuck Baldwin's principle opponent favors compulsory national service - he favors a return to the military draft. That is a horrendous thing. And I'm not making this up; this is what he told me from his mouth to my ear. Others have been present with him when those positions were advocated."
