2 armored car guards killed in Philly
By RANDY PENNELL, Associated Press Writer
Johnson blamed the loss of life on the availability of handguns in Philadelphia and around the country. Speaking of an international police chief's conference he recently attended, he said: "Every other country has the same problems we have. The one problem they didn't have is our gun problem ... A robbery with a knife or a baseball bat, somebody might have been injured. A robbery with a gun, somebody's killed." So, let's just take everyone's guns away...that will fit everything!

Freedom Quotes Vol. XXIII
"I wouldn't go to war again as I have done to protect some lousy investment of the bankers. There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket."
- Major General Smedley Darling Butler (1881-1940), Major General USMC, most highly decorated military man from the pre-World War II era; from a speech in 1933
"I believe in adequate defense at the coastline and nothing else. If a nation comes over here to fight, then we'll fight. The trouble with America is that when the dollar only earns 6 percent over here, then it gets restless and goes overseas to get 100 percent. Then the flag follows the dollar and the soldiers follow the flag."
- Major General Smedley Darling Butler, from a speech in 1933
"War is just a racket. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of people. Only a small inside group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at the expense of the masses."
- Major General Smedley Darling Butler; from a speech in 1933
"That the sole object and only legitimate end of government is to protect the citizen in the enjoyment of life, liberty, and property, and when the government assumes other functions it is usurpation and oppression."
- The Alabama Declaration of Rights, Article I, Section 35
"The said constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms."
- Samuel Adams
"If men, through fear, fraud, or mistake, should in terms renounce or give up any natural right, the eternal law of reason and the grand end of society would absolutely vacate such renunciation. The right to freedom being the gift of Almighty God, it is not in the power of man to alienate this gift and voluntarily become a slave."
- Samuel Adams
"Among the natural rights of the colonists are these: first, a right to life;
secondly, to liberty; thirdly to property; together with the right to support and defend them in the best manner they can."
- Samuel Adams
"The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men."
- Samuel Adams
"A general dissolution of the principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy...While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but once they lose their virtue, they will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader...If virtue and knowledge are diffused among the people, they will never be enslaved. This will be their great security."

Anti-Freedom Quotes Vol. VII
"[The war in Iraq is] a rare opportunity to move toward an historic period of cooperation. Out of these troubled times...a New World Order can emerge."
- George Herbert Walker Bush (1924- ) 41st US President; before Congress on September 11, 1990
"My vision of a 'new world order' foresees a United Nations with a revitalized peacekeeping function."
- George Herbert Walker Bush
(1924- ) 41st US President; New York, 1991
"It was just one year ago that the world saw this new, invigorated United Nations in action as this Council stood fast against aggression and stood for the sacred principles enshrined in the U.N. Charter. And now it's time to step forward again, make the internal reforms, accelerate the revitalization, accept the responsibilities necessary for a vigorous and effective United Nations. I want to assure the members of this Council and the Secretary-General, the United Nations can count on our full support in this task."
- George Herbert Walker Bush (1924- ) 41st US President; Speech to UN, January 31, 1992
"The technetronic era involves the gradual appearance of a more controlled society. Such a society would be dominated by an elite, unrestrained by traditional values.
"Soon it will be possible to assert almost continuous surveillance over every citizen and maintain up-to-date complete files containing even the most personal information about the citizen. These files will be subject to instantaneous retrieval by the authorities."
- Zbigniew Brezhinsky, National Security Advisor to President Jimmy Carter and advisor to 4 other presidents, Executive Director of Trilateral Commission; from his book, BETWEEN TWO AGES

What Rights? You Have No Rights!
I'm not sure what is up with Asheville, NC, lately. The mountain city has abuse of police power on more than one occasion this year. Take a look at the video below, which comes courtesy of Survivors, a Christian anti-abortion action group.
Survivors had their Survivors Campus Life Tour team in Asheville protesting at the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College. Five team members were arrested, along with three Asheville residents.
I let the video, and the Press Release from Survivors tell the rest of the story.

Asheville Police Ignore the First Amendment; 8 Persons Arrested on Public Campus Today
ASHEVILLE, October 2 — In response to today’s arrests of 8 people at the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, the Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust (“Survivors”) will hold a press conference at the Asheville Police Department.
The conference will begin today at 5:30 p.m. in front of the Police Department at 100 Court Plaza.
The Survivors will respond to the arrests of 5 members of the Survivors Campus Life Tour as well as 3 Asheville residents. The Campus Life Tour is a program of the Survivors, a national youth activist organization, and is comprised of a team of college-age youth who tour the United States, visiting over 200 campuses a year with educational displays and literature exposing the horrific nature of abortion and educating their peers.
The Campus Life Tour was making a scheduled stop when the arrests on the Asheville-Buncombe campus took place. While peacefully and legally engaging the students of Asheville-Buncombe through their pro-life outreach, members of the Survivors were surrounded by over a dozen police officers and ordered off the public campus.
The Survivors are experienced advocates and have successfully stood for freedom of speech on public college campuses across the United States. In response to the police officers’ orders to leave the campus, the Survivors refused to relinquish their First Amendment right to free speech on public property.
Moments later, 5 members of the Survivors Campus Life Tour and 3 Asheville residents were handcuffed, placed in paddy wagons, and taken to the local police station. They were charged with trespassing.
Kortney Blythe, Director of the Campus Life Tour and one of the Survivors arrested, stated, “I am shocked and outraged by the blatant prejudice displayed today by the Asheville Police Department and the administrators of Asheville-Buncombe. I thought that Asheville was a city where free speech is celebrated and respected. Obviously, I was wrong. It is shameful that our pro-life message was silenced because the police and college administrators gave in to prejudice. The Survivors will not remain silent – we will defend our right to freedom of speech, no matter the cost.”

Well, if our side can skirt the Constitution to get our will done, we have no moral ground to find fault with the liberals for doing the same thing. No Power
I thought this quote from J Vernon McGee was excellent, and goes a long way to explain the current condition of not only our churches, but our nation.
Something to Think About
From Dr. J. Vernon McGee's Micaiah and a God-Aimed Arrow
The pulpit in America has become a sounding board instead of the voice in the wilderness crying out for God. It is saying the thing that people want to hear today. That is the tragedy of this hour in which we live.
