I have taken the last six months or so to take a break from blogging, news watching, etc. I haven't stopped supporting Liberty, I just needed a break. In that time, I have had some time to think about the direction the Swamp Fox Files has been heading.

I have spent entirely too much time going after individuals and groups, and that now stops. I will focus on principles and ideas. There are enough of people out there already that spend the majority of the time going after the various liberals, neo-cons, progressives, socialists and Commies. The rest of my time will be spent supporting the ideas of true limited government, Constitutional liberty and why it is important.

This year we have a grand opportunity. Let's not waste our time, energy and monies attacking people. Let's spend it supporting ideas. Ideas that have worked in the past, and can work again today. Let's have a new generation of Jeffersons, Adams, Henrys, Marions, Sumters, and Crocketts.

The fact is very few Christians or Conservatives actually care one way or another about abortion. It seems that common sense would tell one that there is something majorly wrong with the violent destruction of a human being. Instead, we care more about 'endangered species' than we do about millions of unborn children.

Recently, information has come available that abortion plays a big role in the health care 'reform' that President Obama and the Statists wish to shove down the throats of the American people. Yet, very few people are bringing this issue up. Instead, we are more concerned about the death counseling the elderly will have to undergo. Don't get me wrong, I think that is evil to its very core, but what about the slaughter of the innocent babies? I guess, even to Christians, since they are not born, they don't count.

But now, we are told that aborting babies is good for the environment! You read that right. Do you want to save the planet? Do you want to help humanity survie the coming envirnomental holocaust? Then abort that kid now!

And of course, the real culprits are filthy American women who are burdening the world with their children. The rest of the world is OK, have kids, just odn't overdo. But Americans: please, kill them all!

I know, I am being extreme, right? Not really. Read what appeared on the New York Times Green Inc. blog. Also read, Reproduction and the carbon legacies of individuals, and official 'scientific' study conducted by Oregon State University.

Maybe what we should do is merge the healthcare and environmental bills together, and kill two birds with one stone. No pun intended. Abortion could be made mandatory for 'certain people' in order to 'save the environement'. Those who willing have abortions, can be given tax credits and tax breaks. It's a win-win situation!

Sadly, I am afraid that our nation is not far off from such a sick, twisted and depraved 'final solution' to our problems.

But will Christians continue to remain silent? Probably. As long as it does not affect them, they could care less. Just look at the way they vote. Much like the Christians in Germany during the days of Hitler, the Christians in the United States will remain silent, as long as such policies are not applied to them. Then, when those policies are applied to them, no one will care, and there will be no one to speak up.

Danville Tea Party Leaders To Meet With Rep. Perriello

This article is a follow up to Silence The People!, which appeared here on the Swamp Fox Files last week.

“The Tea Party movement has come too far to be marginalized by these tactics. They shouldn’t be scared [to speak up].”

Last week, after the story of the Danville Tea Party leaders’ encounter with some unpleasant events broke on the 912Project’s website, I posted my take on the events. Earlier today I had the pleasure of speaking over the telephone with Nigel Coleman of the Danville Tea Party, and Michael Ernette. Mr. Ernette is not a member of the Danville Tea Party, but was there and a witness to the events that unfolded.

Mr. Coleman informed me that US Rep. Perriello’s (VA D-5) office has contacted them and set up a meeting scheduled for Thursday, August 6, 2009. It seems Rep. Perriello is denying any knowledge of the situation, and was not even aware they were there until the following day.

Mr. Coleman said that he plans to take a camera to record events, but the bottom line is, he just wants his questions answered. Questions that he was denied the privilege of asking on July 18.

As of this writing, the Danville Tea Party leaders have not received any response from the Commonwealth of Virginia Attorney General’s office. Mr. Coleman sent a letter to the Attorney General’s office on Monday, July 20, to request that the tactics used at the Townhall meeting be looked into.

According to both Mr Coleman and Mr. Ernette, the Virginia State Police consider the whole matter a closed case, with no further “surprise” visits.

Mr. Ernette said that he is concerned with how the media may portray the Thursday meeting the Danville Tea Party leaders will have with Rep. Perriello (an event which he will not be attending). He said that “Big people are following this situation, and it would hurt if the media makes Tea Partyers look stupid.” And that, he said, is a “Big problem.”

Other than a brief, and what Mr. Ernette states was a “slanted” article, the local media outlets have been silent on the events of July 18.

The attention to this situation has come from bloggers like the Swamp Fox Files, and the 912Project. Thanks to the event being reported on the 912Project’s website, Politico and Yahoo! News picked it up, Mr. Ernette told the Swamp Fox Files.

“Why were we not questioned at the event?” Mr. Ernette stated over the telephone on Tuesday. “We were encircled by members of various agencies.”

Mr. Ernette said that he was perplexed by the actions of the various police agencies involved on the day of the event, and the follow up meetings. And it seems as though there were several agencies involved: the Virginia State Police, what appeared to be Secret Service agents and members of the Department of Energy Protection Unit. Until my conversation, I was not even aware of such a police unit. (The existence and purpose of the DoE Protection unit would entail an entirely separate article, not to mention their purpose of being there. Suffice it to say for now, that their presence at the Townhall meeting is curious at best.)

Mr. Ernette stated he and the Tea Party leaders were informed that the Virginia State Police was there to assist another agency—the Department of Energy Protection Unit. He said they were also told that the police wanted to ascertain whether the protesters, meaning he and the Danville Tea Party people, knew how to ask a question. The problem with that statement, Mr. Ernette said, is that Secret Service agents stood with them the entire time they were there, and no one attempted to “see if they knew how to ask a question”.

“Why were we not questioned at the event?” Mr. Ernette stated over the telephone on Tuesday. “We were encircled by members of various agencies.”

Mr. Ernette said for him, the scariest part of the whole ordeal is the fact that police were sent to intimidate them after the event. Police arrived at the residence of Bobby Conner, the other Danville Tea Party leader, approximately 48 hours after the Townhall meeting.

Mr. Ernette said that the Virginia State Police considers the matter closed, and that the State police and the Department of Energy refuse to return any of their calls.

For now, their questions remain unanswered. Why were they not allowed to ask any questions on July 18? Why did a Pittsylvania County Deputy, who called their license plates in while they were eating at an area fast food restaurant, follow them? Why did the police show up at Mr. Conner’s residence 48 hours later? Why was Mr. Ernette followed on his was home?

Mr. Ernette said that he is not concerned with notoriety. He wants to make sure that the story is told so that the next group of people at a Townhall event is not intimidated. People should be able to ask questions without any fear of reprisals, he told the Swamp Fox Files.

Silence The People!

Once again, even local mainstream media outlets ignore the news - those things they would just as well hope no one knows about, and those who do should forget.

The912Project.com posted two stories today about American citizens being harassed because they dare, not really speak out, but ask questions! What would be such a sensitive subject that the people are not only forbidden answers to, but also are not allowed to ask questions about? Nothing less than the government health care "reform" that Washington is trying to shove down our throats.

It seems as though supporters of ObamaCare not only want to silence their opponents in Washington, but they also want to silence you if you dare to question their wisdom.

The first story posted by The912Project covers a group of TEA Party leaders from Danville, Virginia, who were thrown off the property of a Town Hall event.

...they were refused an opportunity to ask the congressman a question and were then told by a plainclothes policeman to leave the property after they attempted to hold up signs urging Perriello to vote against a government takeover of healthcare. The TEA Party activists peacefully complied, but say an unmarked police car then followed them to a local restaurant where an officer left his vehicle, walked over to their cars, and phoned in their license plate numbers.

Now, I know that in this day and age of history, the term "harassment" has become very relative - it is whatever one perceives it to be. However, if these men were causing trouble, and trying to cause a riot or soemthing similar, would they really go through the trouble of asking the Virginia Attorney General to investigate? But that is exactly what they have done.

Covered in The912Project's second report on this incident, the TEA Party leaders have filed complaints with the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Virginia asking him to investigate the actions of law enforcement officers at that event. It should be frightening to all that we now live in a day when all politicians think they are untouchable gods, and mere mortals are forbidden from asking them questions!

I agree with others who are calling for the current set of politicians to be voted out of office. Vote every single one of them out of office.

Not only will his bill cost over one trillion dollars, but he has built in a special section to help end the life of the elderly. It goes like this—His bill compels seniors to submit to a counseling session every five years (and more often if they become sick or go into a nursing home) about alternatives for end-of-life care. (House bill, p. 425-430) The sessions will cover highly sensitive matters, such as whether to receive antibiotics and "the use of artificially administered nutrition and hydration." Part of his funding will come from slashing seniors' health benefits under Medicare.

The well-respected Mayo Clinic has said "No" to Obama care, as well as millions of other red-blooded Americans. In a recent ABC News/Washington Post poll, 83 percent of Americans are very satisfied or somewhat satisfied with the quality of their health care, and 81 percent are similarly satisfied with their health insurance.

It is time that all Americans who say they love this country prove it by letting their voices be heard. We challenge you to immediately call all of your representatives in Washington and remind them that these Socialist programs are not welcomed in America, and we expect them to vote against them when given the opportunity to do so!

It is difficult to believe that this conversation would ever be a part of American life. It will only worsen if we remain inactive. Call all your representatives today and keep calling!

Stop the Ascension of a Leftist Judge

Stopthejudge.com just launched a high-tech website opposing the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor.

The website asks viewers to sign a statement declaring "I stand with the majority of Americans and Lady Justice: justice must be blind. Equality before the law is a fundamental principle of society. Judge Sotomayor's words leave me to believe that she will let emotion, gender, and race unduly influence her judicial decisions."

The website emphasizes the often repeated comments of Judge Sotomayor that cast doubt on her underlining judicial philosophy. In one speech, for example, she said "I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would, [as a Judge] more often than not, reach a better conclusion."

Dismantling The First Amendment

Right now, the First Amendment is under a major attack. The current band of thieves that sit upon Capitol Hill, declaring themselves to be gods, are planning to dismantle and forever destroy the right to free speech in the United States of America. Have we really come this far since 1776? Is this what the Founders intended for us to see?

The so-called "Hate Crimes Bill" is being attached to a harmless sounding national defense bill. That in itself is dishonest - attaching a free-speech destroying bill to one that is supposed to protect our nation. But, since when was Congress known for honesty?

On its own, the hate crimes bill is known as S.909. Since every the most far-left Communists knows this bill will not pass in the open on its own, it is being slipped in under the guise of a national security bill. Every tyrant in the history of the world would be proud.

This so-called hate crimes bill will silence Christians, preachers and others who oppose sinful and destructive lifestyles. You will no longer have the right to express your opinion. It will protect everyone, except those on the so-called Right.

The Department of Homeland Security has already declared this year that the most dangerous people in this nation are those that believe in First and Second Amendment rights, the Bible, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, opposed to abortion, etc.

Where does it end? With the end of the last vestiges of Liberty. With prison for those who believe in such quaint and archaic things. With the elimination of such dregs of society from "civilized" nations.

Call me an alarmist quack if you wish, but if this bill passes, it will only be the beginning.

Too late. The so-called Hate Crimes Bill passed the US Senate last night. Senator Brownback submitted an amendment, which was accepted, appears to reflect some backing down by the Leftists that control Congress. Regardless, the bill should never have been passed, and shows that this nation has completely gone down the tubes.

WE NEED MORE PATRIOTS

For the last two years I have advocated that instead of focusing so much on Washington, DC, we need to focus on retaking our States and local governments. If we reign in the States, it will be a much easier task to reign in the Federal government.

Of course, the problem with this scenario is that we have so few patriots who can or will fight and stand up against the powers that be in the local and State governments.

For the last five years, I have been privileged to know, and count as a friend, a man who has done just that. William Potter has served faithfully on the Fyffe, Alabama Town Council, and has done his best to bring real conservative government to his local area. Unfortunately, his kind seems to be few and far between.

In North Carolina, this problem has reached epidemic proportions. People seem content to elect the same crowd to state, county and local offices time and time again. if we are going to have any hope of restoring Constitutional government and liberty we must first retake our state and local governments. This cannot be accomplished by constantly voting in the same riffraff elite.

Recently, I had the pleasure of coming into contact with a Constitutionally-minded Republican, who is doing his part to help restore common sense in the GOP. Look at Glenn Bradley as a younger, local, North Carolina version of Ron Paul. I was glad to know there are a few of them out there.

What's even better is he will be running for the NC House of Representatives next year. The bad part - he's not in my district. Oh well, at least some one will have a real choice in 2010.

In honor of North Carolina's Declaration of Independence (the Halifax Resolves adopted on April 12, 1776), and calling for a reassertion of North Carolina's Sovereignty, Mr. Bradley worked to have his "Carolina Resolves" (see pdf file of document here) passed at last month's NC State GOP Convention.

I like what Mr. Bradley has to say:

Activate the whole grassroots to a cause, and the cause is accomplished. Today, a large majority of Americans believe that we [the Republican Party] have strayed too far from our Constitutional foundation; and I am not alone in seeing that our greatest hope for growth over the next 8 and 16 years will be to become the Party of the Constitution.

We have a chance to save our Republic for posterity. Fill the GOP to overflowing with Constitutionalists, and elect the same to every office everywhere. Push in by osmosis, and reform step by step.

The only way the GOP can ever hope to become relevant again is through men like Ron Paul and Glen Bradley and others like them. Where is the party of Robert Taft? If the GOP were to get rid of the liberals like John McCain, et al, then people like me would consider voting Republican again. We have had enough of the liberals masquerading as conservatives.

I had planned to get this up in time for Independence Day, but I just ran out of time. This is a great online resource. Adams Family Papers: An Electronic Archive contains a wealth of info. You can view facsimiles of the original letters of John and Abigail Adams, as well as word-for-word duplications.

Most interesting for this time of the year, is the letter dated July 3, 1776, written by John Adams to his wife Abigail.

For instance, the future second president wrote:

The Second Day of July 1776, will be the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America.

I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.

Well, he got the celebration part right. As he would lament at a later date, the day of July 2, 1776, would be forgotten entirely and its memory completely neglected. And it has. Not even historians - those who claim to know, study and understand historical events - know of, or talk about that date.

I must hand it to the Massachusetts Historical Society, they have done a great service to the current generation for making these archives available for all to read, studty, observe and learn from a great man and a great woman.

Today should be celebrated, but very few people even know why anymore. The fact that the events of Jul 2, 1776, would be forgotten was lamented by several of the Founders of the Republic (of course, they also lamented that future generations would forget what it was all about, and downgrade the republic into what it has become).

Here are some excellent resources to rediscover not only the Foundations of the American Republic, but also why July 2 is more important than July 4.

The website, OurDocuments.gov has a great deal of information about the Founding Documents, not to mention other important forgotten American Documents. It is definitely worth the time to go and peruse the multitude of files. Here are three important documents to view there:

1. The Lee Resolution of 1776

2. The Declaration of Independence

3. The Articles of Confederation

Another site that has amassed some great information on the Founding of the American Republic is The Online Library of Liberty. Their greatest achievement, however, is collecting and making available online the 12 volume, 1904 edition, of the Works of Thomas Jefferson. This includes his autobiography, his correspondence from 1771-1826, and his Notes on Virginia. This site is worth visiting for this information alone, if for nothing else.

What better way to celebrate Independence Day than to learn what it is really about!

A Kitten and Salvation

My wife and I were about to go to sleep Saturday night; it had been an exhausting day. No sooner had I laid my head on the pillow, than I heard the tiny, mournful "mew" of a little kitten. We knew some feral cats that we have been feeding to keep away varmints had brought a little kitten up the week before. But that kitten was in a different place, and so I definitely should not be able to hear it outside the bedroom window.

Not able to allow anything to suffer, I grabbed my trusty Mag Lite and headed out the front door. I looked on the front porch first. Little sounds carry at night, so it was worth looking there before venturing into the yard. No kitten.

I headed down the steps, looking carefully at the bushes in front of the house. Still, no kitten, but I could hear the little thing.

I decided to look by the side of the house near the bedroom window. In the trench created by years of rainfall, was a little black kitten, eyes sealed shut from mucus, wandering around, crying out desperately for its mother. But there was no mother cat.

I picked up the little one, and brought her inside and showed my find to my wife. We called my sister-in-law, who had a better idea of what to do than we, and she came over with kitten formula and some other necessities.

We now have a new little kitten, who, should she survive, will have a name (what I don't know, my wife won't tell me). We have cleaned her up, taking care of the drainage everyday so that she can see, and feeding her formula at regular intervals.

Our other cat thinks she is rat apparently, as she only growls. But she will accept her new sister once she understands that the tiny thing is another cat.

Sunday morning in my Sunday School class, the idea hit me - that kitten's story is a lot like salvation.

You see, I was once a lost, little thing (as far as the world and the grand scheme of things goes), blinded by my sin. I didn't know where to go, so I just cried out. Just like the little kitten didn't find me, I didn't find Christ - He found me. Not only did He find me, but He took me into His Home and adopted me into His Family. He cleansed me from my sin, and rescued me from the dark night and everything that could have harmed me.

It's funny how God will send little things to remind me of the BIG THING He did for me.

There are a lot of people out there, who like the little kitten, are wandering out in the dark of the night, crying out for help, but no help comes. All they know is that they need help. God uses you and I to shine the Light of the Gospel to find them.

Just as I could not stand to hear the cries of that kitten, and could not allow it to suffer, God is not willing that any should perish in Hell - He wants all to be saved.

Today, in the aftermath of a coup that has overthrown and exiled the president of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, our Supreme Leader is...um, meddling? Now isn't that interesting, I thought we didn't meddle with the One in power?

Obama has joined other Leftists leaders in the Americas (among that illustrious group are Hugo Chavez, and Brazil's da Silva) in calling, no demanding, that Honduras restore their law-breaking, Constitution-destroying president.

At first, this appeared to be a typical Banana republic military coup. However, the Honduran Congress has appointed a provisional successor, to serve out the remainder of their deposed president's term. And it all boils down to preventing Zelaya from doing to Honduras what other Latin American president's - like Chavez - have done to their countries by way of dismantling their Constitutions.

It seems to me, we should be praising and supporting the Congress and people of Honduras (who seem to be quite happy with the situation now). Instead, our Supreme Leader, who is no fan of our Constitution, is demanding that the people of Honduras return a man who could be another tin pot dictator if he gets his way.

I love it how our government picks and chooses who to bully.

In the last few weeks, there have been some interesting things being said about Jerusalem, and more specifically, the Temple Mount.

On June 19, 2009, "Is there a place for God's Holy Mountain in Jerusalem?" appeared on Reuters' FaithWorld blog. The writer seemed to give hope that maybe, just maybe, the Jews and the Arabs could find enough trust in one another to allow the Dome of the Rock mosque and a new Jewish Temple to exist side by side.

This isn't the first time this idea has circulated. Many people have expressed similar hopes. And ideas like these will not be going away anytime soon. Anyone with common sense desperately hopes and longs for peace. In a situation like this, we all really think, "Can't we all just get along?"

The Washington Post carried on their website an article calling for a "new vision" for the Temple Mount, on June 10, 2009. That "new vision" also entails having a new Jewish Temple being built alongside the Dome of the Rock. This article claims that such an event would be the fulfillment of Zechariah 14:9, "And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day there shall be one LORD, and his name one."

There is just one problem with this - the God of the Bible and the god of the Koran are not the same. I know that is neither politically nor religiously correct today, but the fact remains. And while the False Prophet may indeed lead the Jews and the Arabs into temporary harmony with one another, it will only last long enough for Satan to accomplish his goals.

Reuters carried an article on June 18, 2009, to cover this issue even further. Last Thursday, a conference began that was organized by the Jewish faction of the Interfaith Encounter Association. But those Jewish members aren't naive enough to think this will all happen because enemies suddenly decide to get along. One even admitted that it would take "Divine Intervention" for this to happen.

The day is coming, when several smooth-talking people will convince the peoples of the world to unite - unite politically, religiously and economically. They will also help rebuild the Temple, only they will not be on Israel's side at all.

AUDIT THE FED IS CLOSE TO BEING A REALITY

Last night, Campaign For Liberty announced that Ron Paul's "Audit the Fed" bill, or HR 1207 has now reached over 218 cosponsors. This means the bill now has a majority of support among House members. The sad part is the Pelosi gang could still easily prevent it from even being brought out of committee, let alone put up for an up or down vote.

The Audit the Fed bill isn't just a good idea, it is the right thing to do. Here's what Campaign For Liberty says on their site regarding the bill:

Since its inception in 1913, the Federal Reserve has helped to devalue our dollar by 95%. During the recent economic crisis, it has poured trillions of dollars into the economy with no oversight, made secret agreements with foreign banks and governments, and has refused to tell Congress who is getting the money or to give it the details of what deals are being made.

HR 1207, Ron Paul's "Audit the Fed bill," will demand full transparency from the Federal Reserve for the first time in history by removing all restrictions from Government Accountability Office (GAO) audits of the Fed and mandating an audit by the end of 2010.

The 218+ cosponsors is good, but there is still a long way to go. Should the bill see success, it would be an important step in reforming a powerful organization.

Senator Jim DeMint has become the first cosponsor of the Senate's version of HR 1207. DeMint, like his fellow South Carolinian mark Sanford, has become a well-respected voice for true conservative principles in the last year. Hopefully, people will listen to these men, and not Liberal hacks like John McCain and Newt Gingrich.

President Obama declares June to be Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month

Yesterday, the White House issued a formal proclamation declaring June to be LGBT Month in commemoration of a riot that took place in June 1969.

It's interesting that the President has chosen to honor something that is creating more controversy and division in this country than anything else (besides the bailouts). Right now, there is a hot debate over whether or not these groups should have preferential treatment or not. Apparently the current administration believes they should receive special treatment.

I would like to point out some interesting things in the said document.

"LGBT Americans have made, and continue to make, great and lasting contributions that continue to strengthen the fabric of American society."

How so? I do not comprehend the liberal mindset of promoting everyone's belief system except for those who stand upon the truth of the Word of God.

"I am proud to be the first President to appoint openly LGBT candidates to Senate-confirmed positions in the first 100 days of an Administration."

I can only imagine. But, then again, the last two administrations had LGBTs in various positions as well.

"The LGBT rights movement has achieved great progress, but there is more work to be done. LGBT youth should feel safe to learn without the fear of harassment, and LGBT families and seniors should be allowed to live their lives with dignity and respect."

We have noticed how any positions and opinions held contrary to the LGBT agenda are not only frownded upon, but also are harassed.

But wait, there is more.

"My Administration has partnered with the LGBT community to advance a wide range of initiatives....I have joined efforts at the United Nations to decriminalize homosexuality around the world....I continue to support measures to bring the full spectrum of equal rights to LGBT Americans. These measures include enhancing hate crimes laws, supporting civil unions and Federal rights for LGBT couples, outlawing discrimination in the workplace, ensuring adoption rights, and ending the existing 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy in a way that strengthens our Armed Forces and our national security."

Equal rights? I thought every citizen was guaranteed the same rights in this nation? As an American citizen it does not matter what your religion, philosophical sexual or any other preference is, you are guaranteed the same rights under the Constitution and Bill of Rights. How can you be more equal than that. Maybe I am missing something here.

As far as the hate crimes laws go, we know how that will work out. Anyone who believes homosexuality is wrong, for whatever reason, is to be silenced. That includes pastors, right-wing nut job Christians, and those despicable "Bible-clingers".

Adoption rights...this one burns me more than anything else. It is easier for someone living an LGBT lifestyle to adopt a child, than it is for a law-abiding Christian couple who are doing everything they can to make it.

I am opposed to anyone receiving preferential treatment. I doesn't matter what your background, status, philosophy, religion or sexuality is, you do not deserve special treatment. The problem with the "equal rights movement" is that it gives special treatment to one group, while stripping another group of its rights - whether of speech, press, etc. It is wrong, and leads us into dangerous waters.

Unless you've taken a very long Memorial Day vacation, you've no doubt heard the big news.

President Obama has picked an anti-gun radical to replace Justice David Souter on the Supreme Court.

Obama's pick is Judge Sonia Sotomayor, who is currently on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second District. There she has racked up an anti-Second Amendment record and has displayed contempt for the rule of law under the Constitution.

The Heller decision put the Supreme Court in support of the Constitutional protection of the individual right to keep and bear arms. Sotomayor, a politically correct lover of centralized government power (as long as she is part of the power elite), immediately went into counter-attack mode against the Heller decision.

Sotomayor was part of a three-judge panel earlier this year which ruled in Maloney v. Cuomo that the Second Amendment does not apply to the states. As she and her cohorts claimed, the Supreme Court has not yet incorporated the states under the Second Amendment. Until then, she believes, the Second only applies to the District of Columbia.

This is pure judicial arrogance - something Sotomayor relishes (as long as she is one of the ruling judges). In fact, protection of the right to keep and bear arms was a major objective for enactment of the Fourteenth Amendment, as recently freed slaves were being disarmed and terrorized in their neighborhoods.

But Sotomayor disdains this important right of individuals, as indicated by an earlier opinion from 2004. In United States v. Sanchez-Villar, she stated that "the right to possess a gun is clearly not a fundamental right."

Sotomayor has held very anti-gun views, even as far back as the 1970s. Fox Cable News reported yesterday that in her senior thesis at Princeton University, she wrote that America has a "deadly obsession" with guns and that the Second Amendment does not guarantee an individual right to firearms ownership.

Sotomayor's Second Amendment views go hand in hand with her politically correct views on the law and the role of judges.

In a speech given at Duke University in 2005, she made it abundantly clear that judges are involved in making policy. Realizing that this did not sound very judicial (even though most judges act on this basis), Sotomayor tried to laugh off her brazen admission: "I know this is on tape and I should never say that, [audience laughing], because we don't make law - I know. Um, okay. I know, I'm not promoting it, I'm not advocating it." The audience continued to laugh. They got the joke.

But Sotomayor's joke will be on us and our liberties if she gets confirmed to the Supreme Court. And that is why we need to start contacting our Senators early and often, urging them to vote against this dangerous nomination.

It's Memorial Day again. A time for cookouts with hamburgers and hot dogs, parties, the first official kickoff to Summer. A day for ultra-patriotic flag-waving, singing "God Bless America". Yeah.

Actually, it's not about any of those.

OK, what about honoring the troops, praising their sacrifice and heroism? No again.

Memorial Day has nothing to do with the living. Matter of fact, it has nothing to do with the deceased who came home.

Memorial Day has become a day to forget. Forget those who never came back. Forget those who may still languish in some prison. Forget those who died as prisoners of war. Forget those whose remains were never found. Memorial Day has become a day to pretend those men never really existed after all. Instead, we have replaced their memories with parades, cookouts, races, picnics, vacations and self-indulgence.

Memorial Day was first started by Confederate widows (depending on which story you count as authentic will determine which state you think these originated in). Northern occupation authorities knew a smart idea when they saw one, and soon various memorial days sprung up all across the country. By the end of World War II, the fallen of five different wars were being honored and remembered. But in 1951 the memorials took a new, darker meaning.

In 1951 rising hostilities turned into the Korean Conflict. When that ended in 1953 at a stalemate, our government had done something that had been totally unthinkable - allowed countless numbers of men to remain behind enemy lines. Many of these men were listed as MIA - missing in action, presumably captured by the enemy, or were known to be POWs, actual prisoners of war. And they would remain there.

Because we ignored General MacArthur's advice, we once again became involved in a war that our government was determined not to win or lose (although we really did lose that one). As in Korea, we left countless numbers of men behind enemy lines in Vietnam.

For a number of years, many wore bracelets with the names of those men; but now, we forget. Instead of remembering, we choose drunkenness and gluttony. Instead of solemnly reminding those around us, we choose to teach the next generation to be self-absorbed.

Memorial Day, like Independence Day, has become just another national party day, and we could care less about what it is supposed to be.

I will not forget.

I will fly the Black Flag.

I will remember those men who died behind enemy lines. I will remember those who may still remain as prisoners.

I will not forget.

I came across some real patriotic sites that give excellent resources and information for us to return this country back to its moral and Constitutional foundation.

The first is a resource for my fellow North Carolinians, NC Freedom. NC Freedom has links connecting to other like-minded sites, but also contains information on pending bills before the NC General Assembly, and NC Tea Parties.

Get Out of Our House is a site dedicated to returning the US House of Representatives to the people, by campaigning to get the politicians out.

The next three sites deal with the corruption that oozes out of the nation's capitol.

The Sunlight Foundation wants to shine the light were the two-legged cockroaches gather. Here is what their purpose is, as found on their homepage:

Now We're Burning Bibles

The Age of Fahrenheit 451 has arrived.

A couple of weeks ago, I posted on the US Army and government taking a firm stand against our troops (those who happen to be Christian) sharing their faith in any form with the people of Afghanistan. Military.com and CNN are both reporting now that the Bibles, which were translated into the two most common languages of Afghanistan, were burned.

When I first read Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, I never thought the Firemen would start burning books so quickly. Of course, it isn't surprising that Bibles are the first things to be burned.

Since the Bibles were offensive to the Muslim leaders of Afghanistan, and the Army didn't want to take the chance on the Bibles being sent back, they decided it was in everyone's best interest to have the Bibles burned.

It's also interesting to note that it was a chaplain who did his "patriotic duty" of collecting the Bibles to prevent them from getting out into the hands of the Afghan people.

Since this test run worked so well in a country where our military is currently engaged, I wonder how long it will be before the same thing is done in the "land of the Free"? After all, there are a lot of people here who are not Christians, and they do find the Bible to be highly offensive. Why is it that a foreign country has more rights than our own people who are not Christians? Don't they deserve to have their own Bible burning?

In her recent email update, she listed a few things that kind of kicked me in the hindquarters. That same feeling when the preacher's message hits me right between the eyes. Ouch.

I understand that God will take care of His own, but I also know that the majority of our financial problems are brought about due to our own stupidity. God gave us enough common sense to survive and thrive, and we should.

We are a whiny bunch of people. We think we deserve certain things, when we do not. We have a misplaced understanding of what is truly important. And we are so willing to go into debt (I'm speaking to myself here as well).

Good news!

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill today that included an amendment to repeal the gun ban on National Park Service (NPS) land and wildlife refuges.

The amendment, sponsored by Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) and attached to a credit card industry reform bill, passed the House overwhelmingly by a vote of 279-147.

For decades, law-abiding citizens have been prohibited from exercising their Second Amendment rights on NPS land and wildlife refuges, even if the state in which the land is located allows carrying firearms.

With some limited exceptions for hunting, the only way to legally possess a firearm anywhere in a national park is by having it unloaded and inaccessible, such as locked up in an automobile trunk. A Bush administration regulation partially reversed the ban, but that action was singlehandedly negated recently by an activist judge in Washington, D.C. The Department of Interior decided not to appeal that ruling.

Senator Coburn believes, like you do, that Americans should not be forced to sacrifice their Second Amendment rights when entering NPS land and wildlife refuges.

GOA worked with Coburn on an amendment that simply allows for state and local laws - instead of unelected bureaucrats and anti gun activist judges - to govern firearm possession on these lands.

The anti-gun leadership in both the House and Senate went berserk and fought to keep the Coburn amendment from being attached to the underlying bill. Sparks were flying on the floor of the House of Representatives today.

Anti-gun Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) whined that a "very good" credit card bill had been "hijacked" by the Coburn amendment. To this, Rep. Rob Bishop (R-UT) pointed out that gun control is the policy of tyrants, as evidenced by the British attempt to confiscate firearms at Lexington and Concord in 1775.

Congressional leaders and entrenched bureaucrats have fought GOA over the NPS gun ban for the past eight years.

But your activism has finally broken through. The late Senator Everett Dirksen said, "When I feel the heat, I see the light!" Well, you have applied a lot of heat. Members of Congress know that they oppose your Second Amendment rights at their own peril.

As it stands today, both houses of Congress have now passed the Coburn amendment - and President Obama is expected to sign the provision into law (only because it is part of a larger credit card bill that he really wants).

So, congratulate yourself for winning this long, hard battle. GOA was the leading, and often only, national gun group involved in this fight. You involvement was absolutely vital to achieving this win.

Of course, many more battles lie ahead. President Obama continues to push for the Senate to ratify massive international gun control treaties. There is a battle over a Supreme Court nominee coming up. Anti-gun zealots in Congress are aggressively pushing to renew the Clinton gun ban and close down gun shows.

And as the health care debate picks up steam in the coming weeks and months, GOA is battling efforts to create a computerized national healthcare database. Such a database can be used to deny people their Second Amendment rights in the same way that so many veterans have lost their gun rights based only on the diagnoses of a doctor for things like combat-related stress.

GOA will be calling for action on these and other Second Amendment issues as they move through Congress.

In the meantime, have a safe Memorial Day as we remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that America would remain "Land of the Free."

It is my sincere belief, that we do not come even remotely close to appreciating the depths from which our Lord Jesus Christ has rescued us. The shedding of His precious blood on the Cross of Calvary and the full atonement for our sins this unspeakable act of amazing grace has given to us, who have placed our total trust in Him by the taking of the free gift of salvation into our hearts, is, without any doubt whatsoever, the GREATEST, most SUPERNATURAL and UNFATHOMLY SUPREMELY GLORIOUS ACT that our Great GOD the Creator of all things has ever done or ever will do throughout all the endless millenia of ETERNITY!

That we deserve none of His regard I am sure no one will argue. But, many of us, in giving in to our human frailties and fleshly appetites, act at times as though we are somewhat privileged now that we are born again into the family of God. While it is true that we now have the inestimable privilege of having a home waiting for us in heaven (a Mansion no less!), Ps 40:2 Tells us "He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings."

He brought us out of the pit and He set our feet on the Rock (Christ) and He has established and will continue to establish our goings from that point on. The glory for anything we accomplish in our new lives is all His and none of ours. Any feelings of superiority we might be tempted to engender in our hearts towards sinners is of the devil and should be vehemently resisted and rejected as soon as we become aware of its presence within us.

Isa 51:1 Tells us: "Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged."

This brings us back to the verses with which I opened (refer back).

There are lost people out there today where we once were! We have to WARN them of HELL! I think we are afraid to offend people. But no one warned people more of the HELL that awaits those that reject Jesus Christ than Jesus Christ Himself! In the song we sing "ONE DAY" one of the phrases in it is "our example is HE!" As much as heaven is unspeakable eternal bliss, hell is unspeakable torment! A soul that slips into hell faces an eternity of always tumbling, never able to gain his balance. He burns in continuous searing hot eternal flames that shed no light. The darkness surrounding him is utterly black and he cannot hear others screams over his own. He has nothing but eternal regrets to ponder throughout the endless millenia. Five seconds after he has arrived in hell will seem like a million years; whereas a million years in heaven will seem like 5 seconds to the redeemed. Worse than all of this horror that I have just described is that God is not present there in hell. Any feeling of love from another for the soul in hell is totally gone. There will never be any peace for this soul again. I have said all this scary stuff to say this: Is there not a cause?! I am sure none of us want anyone to go to this awful place and we surely don't want anyone's blood to be required of our hand because we did not obey the Great Commission and warn them of the wrath that already rests upon them because they have not heard and accepted the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The best way not to be afraid in confrontational soul winning is to prepare your heart before going out to witness for Him. We must pray and surrender our hearts and minds to Him. We know that His strength is made perfect in our weakness. We can't save anyone. The Holy Spirit uses a surrendered and willing vessel to win others to Jesus. Without Him we can do nothing.

The devil will do all he can to discourage you during the week. He'll tell you things like "You didn't give her a tract! Now she's going to go to hell. You're worthless! What makes you think God can use you?! How could you have thought that! Har har what a joke! You could have given more than that in the offering you Scrooge! Spiritual? You? Please!"

Tell that old snake to be still! Greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world! Take authority over him in Jesus Name! Resist the devil and he will flee from you! Picture yourself giving him a good swift kick in the pants as you slam the door of your heart shut behind him! Amen?

It is time for us to go out there and assail the gates of hell in Jesus name and in His might, with the Comforter that He has given us by our side to convict the world of sin. We have some Divine appointments today. Lets get those angels to tuning up those pipes of rejoicing that sinners have come home in our city!

Well, that's the attitude that many in the British Empire had a century ago. And it seems to be the general attitude of the US government and the US military today.

At the beginning of Queen Victoria's reign, the British Empire still used to the East India Company to add colonies to the Empire. Being strictly a business organization, East India Company officials saw Christianity, especially its missionaries, as a threat to their business interests. They were afraid that missionaries would cause a conflict with the local religions, and would force the Company to leave that territory.

After the fall of the East India Company, the British government took complete control of her many colonies. For a time, the new British military officials kept the old ban on missionaries. Once the ban was lifted, the British government realized that the missionaries did not cause a conflict; instead, they brought peace, medical care and education to the natives.

Fast forward more than one hundred years.

Today, (while many would contend that the US is not an empire) the US has its military stretched across the globe, and it seems the US military and government are following the religious playbook of the East India Company.

Yesterday, reports started coming out that some troops in Afghanistan had been encouraged by their chaplains to (gasp!) distribute religious literature, including Bibles, to the Afghans.

At first, the Pentagon said nothing. Today, the Army admitted that it has confiscated the Afghan Bibles, and reprimanded the soldiers who did so, or at least planned to give a Bible to an Afghan.

US military regulations currently bar active duty personnel from sharing their faith - whatever it is.

Some Afghan officials are calling for a major investigation, and claim this is a threat to their national security. Apparently, the Afghans, the US military and the US government find Christianity so dangerous that it is an enemy of peace.

A long time ago, in a world far, far away, there was once a military leader who said that if we wanted to bring peace to a country we should send every tract, every Bible and every missionary we could spare. And it was an American general who advised such action. Gasp! Thank the evolutionary scale that America died a long time ago!

I know many of you have heard the big news today regarding the Real ID. "Obama, Congress to revisit Real ID" or even better "Napolitano working to repeal Real ID Act."

Now we can all celebrate, victory is ours! Not quite. You see, you have to read beyond headlines and read the entire story. The Real ID is not going to be repealed, if it is it will be in name only and called something else, perhaps Enhanced Drivers License.

Just read one paragraph from the first article mentioned and you will see it plain and clear.

"We've been, over the last weeks, meeting with governors of both parties to look at a way to repeal Real ID and substitute something else that…accomplishes some of the same goals. And we hope to announce something on that soon," Napolitano said. As governor of Arizona, Napolitano signed a bill prohibiting the state from complying with Real ID; she now oversees the program.

They want to substitute it with something else that meets the same goals. It is still going to be just as invasive and most likely just as costly as the Real ID Act in terms of price, privacy, security and in violation of the first, fourth and tenth amendments of the US constitution.

Nearly 30 states have passed resolutions or legislation to not comply with the Real ID while some like New York and Michigan have gone to enhanced drivers Licenses using a Real ID system similar to what the state department uses to create passports. Never mind that on March 13, 2009 it was reported Post-9/11 reforms don't stop passport fakery. I should also add the as Arizona Governor, Napolitano made certain her state rejected the Real ID while being one of the first to accept the Enhanced Drivers License that is Real ID compliant. Fortunately, we have had states like Missouri and Oregon recently pass legislation to prevent compliance with the Real ID as well. Missouri's bill introduced by Representative Jim Guest still needs to pass in the Senate but will be one of the strongest anti Real ID bill's introduced to date.

A national id is a national id, no matter what kind of name you give it. When your information flows though data hubs controlled by the Federal Government, it is a national id. If you are unable to enter a federal building or fly on a plane without one, it is a national id.

Please stay focused and know that the fight has just begun.

This month, Rio Bravo (trailer below) turns 50. It seems like this anniversary is being ignored. We have more important things to talk about, such as President Obama appearing on The Tonight Show. Oh, boy.

They haven't made movies like this in a long time. If I have time, I'll dig my copy out and watch it again this weekend. Walter Brennan always did make me laugh.

In these old movies, the good guys weren't perfect like everyone claims they were portrayed. No, the good guys were actually a rough crowd, just doing the best they could to protect their families, friends and way of life. Sounds like real men to me.

Oh, and if you don't like John Wayne or Rio Bravo, it's probably because you're a Communist. (If that don't make you mad nothing will.)

As I ponder the events that surround Sherman's march to Savannah and the destruction that was left in the wake of this catastrophe, I had often wondered what would have been the response of the Southern generals had they been given a similar order.

Would, for example, have Jefferson Davis ever ordered Robert E. Lee to conduct such a campaign that involved violent acts of war waged on civilians (women, children, and the elderly)? Consequently, would Robert E. Lee have even followed such an order? What would have been the response of Thomas (Stonewall) Jackson had he been ordered to conduct such a campaign? Based on what we know of these men, the simple answer would have to be a resounding "No."

We have been led to believe that slavery was the ONLY issue that contributed to the Civil War. And yet slavery, if anything, has been preserved. The once free and proud "States" are now the sub-servant "states" with little or no sovereignty.

Now I am not diminishing the justified struggle against the institution of personal bondage (slavery). I find the ownership of a human being (especially in this country) to be reprehensible. However, could such an issue have been resolved without the mass murder of those that Abraham Lincoln insisted were still Americans (members of the Union)?

Perhaps the greatest myth perpetuated about the Civil War is the false belief that the conflict ended in 1865. In reality, the conflict continues today.

It continues when anyone reads the Constitution of the United States of America.

It continues when people discover that the federal government was never intended to have more power over our lives than the Imperial Crown of England did prior to the Revolutionary War.

It continues when we read and hear about repulsive policies legislated into law without our true consent.

And it will continue until we finally elect honest, God fearing people to represent an honest and God fearing nation.

This morning, while checking my email, a good friend and close associate sent me an article from Financial Times regarding the latest rumbles in the Kremlin. Long time readers of the Swamp Fox Files know that I have watched Russia for a long time. I do not think the Bear is dead, nor even asleep. This past summer should have been enough to prove once and for all that Russia is still a great power. More than that, she will push, and bully her agenda through just as she always has.

Now the latest goings on seems to be that the new president of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev is getting a little bold. My friend wonders if perhaps Putin is losing control over his hand-picked puppet successor.

Medvedev told reporters that "The final responsibility for what happens in the country and for the important decisions taken would rest on my shoulders alone and I would not be able to share this responsibility with anyone."

If I were the Russian president's adviser, I would warn him to watch his step, or he will met with an untimely end and/or corruption charges. Vladimir Putin will not put up with this insolence very long.

As it is, Vlad is attempting to have the Russian "Constitution" changed so that he can be reinstated as President. I think Medvedev's new found attitude of "think for Dmitry" is due to the fact that he does not want to lose his seat...even if he is being controlled. If he can prove that he can think and act on his own, then maybe...just maybe the Russian Parliament will rebel against Vlad as well.

In the end, Vlad will be reinstalled as president of the Russias. I predicted a couple of years ago that Vladimir Putin disparately wants to be Tsar, and would become Tsar. Medvedev will disappear like Snowball the Pig in Animal Farm. And the Russian people will come to believe that the Russian Constitution always said that Vlad could serve for life, and that they had been deceived by the Western-sympathizing Medvedev.

It is amazing that after 60 years, a socialist still has many lessons for us. As is the case with Orwell’s other classic novel, 1984, we have yet to learn anything from Animal Farm.

While Orwell obviously wrote Animal Farm as a piece of political satire about Stalin’s Soviet Union, it still has a lot to say about socialism in general. Despite all of its rosy dreams, prophecies and promises, socialism never works. It may work for the elite, but never for the people.

The animals thought they were solving their problems. They thought they were building a better future. However, they eventually discovered they only changed one master for another. Instead of being slaves to man, they became slaves to the pigs.

In America, we are much like the animals of Animal Farm. We fervently hold to the idea that “all men are created equal”. We listen to and willingly accept the promises of smooth-talking politicians. But those promises are never fulfilled, and while all men maybe created equal, we are quick to find out that some are more equal than others.
