POWER HUNGRY

Federal Reserve to gain power under plan
Patrice Hill/The WASHINGTON TIMES

The Federal Reserve, already arguably the most powerful agency in the U.S. government, will get sweeping new authority to regulate any company whose failure could endanger the U.S. economy and markets under the Obama administration's regulatory overhaul plan.

UN's Marxist Plan for Global Government
by William F. Jasper/The NEW AMERICAN

The D'Escoto-UN plan...is nothing short of s full-blown call for world government administered through the UN. The Draft Outcome Document....decries the evils of "a profit centered economy" and the current "prevailing socio-economic system" and declares: "The anti-values of greed, individualism, and exclusion should be replaced by solidarity, common good and inclusion."

Federal Reserve Hiring Lobbyist for Political War
by Thomas R. Eddlem/The NEW AMERICAN

The real issue about the Federal Reserve Bank hiring a lobbyist is corruption. A federally chartered agency should not be using money to hire lobbyists to influence Congress. By federal law (and by the Federal Reserve’s own account), all profits from the Federal Reserve are supposed to return to the U.S. Treasury (i.e., the taxpayers). Hiring a lobbyist robs the taxpayers of those dollars and corruptly uses taxpayer dollars to lobby directly against taxpayer interests. Congress should investigate the propriety of this action.

The New Push to Criminalize Dissent
by Thomas Eddlem/The NEW AMERICAN

Conservatives and everyone else who criticize government policies have been informed that they are being watched, and in the words of Frank Rich, they have been “warned.” The question is, will citizens allow themselves to be intimidated, or will they insist through their elected representatives that the intimidation from Washington stop?

SILENCE IS PERPLEXING

After all the rhetoric, it is amazing that three days after the disputed Iranian presidential election President Obama still has not said anything. Nada. Zilch. No comments at all. And that is strange to say the least.

You would think that he would have said something, about a very controversial nation - a nation that has been at odds with our own for over 30 years. After all, he did say that he wanted to open up talks with Iran.

Three days later (while the media is becoming deathly silent over the events there) Iran is still a mess. Riots in the streets, people are being beaten down by the regime. And it is increasingly obvious that the whole election was a fraud. Yet, the silence from the White House is deafening.

But, I guess that's what those Iranians who voted for Mousavi deserve for believing that their government would actually let them have a voice, and for believing that the American government actually cared about them.
