SHOULD BALDWIN ZIP IT?

There is currently an ongoing debate among Constitution Party and Chuck Baldwin supporters over whether or not Chuck Baldwin should keep his mouth shut when it comes to "religious" matters. For one thing, I find it strange that people from the two groups, who are supposedly overwhelmingly Christian, would even say such things. But, then again, very little surprises me anymore.

The "Zip Its" say that they are afraid that when Baldwin, who is an Independent Baptist preacher, starts going on about the Bible, Jesus and "religion", it will "turn people off". You think? Of course it will turn people off! Whenever the Light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ (and with it the Light of Liberty) start shining into darkness, the cockroaches normally run for cover. It's only natural!

Others fear that Baldwin, as a pastor, would "try to force religion down people's throats". That is clearly unfounded. In actuality, we would be better off, as far as religious freedom is concerned with a Baptist pastor in office, than under anyone else. Why do I think that, you say? Well, I'm glad you asked.

Historically, the only religious group that has ever believed in total religious freedom (also known as liberty of conscience) are Baptists. I'm sorry if you do not agree, but it is true whether you like it or not. Baptists have never been shy about spreading the Gospel, but they also know that whether one accepts the Gospel or not is that individual's decision.

During colonial times it was illegal for one to be a Baptist, except in Rhode Island (it was sort of legal in Pennsylvania). That didn't change until the colonies began declaring independence. It was Baptists, who after independence was won, opposed the Constitution unless a Bill of Rights which guaranteed religious liberty was adopted. That's why North Carolina (which had become a Baptist stronghold by 1776, especially in the Piedmont and Mountain settlements) and Rhode Island stayed out for so long. Baptists also made sure that religious liberty was guaranteed in various state constitutions.

Unlike some religious groups, Baptists have never supported the destruction of any other religious group - no matter how wrong they were (or are). I know many will not agree with me, including some who claim to be Baptist but are not, but there is not any evidence to claim otherwise and plenty of evidence that shows that Baptist have always supported religious liberty.

Should Baldwin attempt to hide what he is - a Baptist and a pastor? Certainly not! And I do not think he will. He should let people know, just as he has for many years, where he gets his ideas for liberty and truth from. So far, he has done just that in the beginning stages of his campaign, and I expect to see him continue. It's hard to shut up a Baptist preacher.

AUDIO OF JONES' INTERVIEW WITH BALDWIN

The following are YouTube audio clips from Alex Jones' interview with Chuck Baldwin on Tuesday, May 20, 2008. These are only audio, no video. While it is divided into three portions (of 10 minutes or less), the complete interview is contained in the Youtubes. I am putting these up since some may want to listen to the interview that I covered in an article on Tuesday.

MARXISM & POLITICAL CORRECTNESS

Those Nasty Dahlgren Papers
A clear view into the Yankee-Marxist worldview
By Al Benson, Jr.

The idea of a raid on the enemy's capitol during wartime is not a particularly alarming one. Jubal Early tried it on Washington in 1864 and almost pulled it off, however, General Early did not have in his coat pocket a set of orders instructing him to attempt to murder President Lincoln and his cabinet "on the spot." Ulric Dahlgren had such a set of orders in his possession and therein lies the Yankee dilemma (and worldview).

The Puritans and Political Correctness
By MacDonald King Aston

The Puritans resolutely believed that they knew the truth of God’s Word. Having failed in their religious errand in England, they migrated to New England where they could establish a strict theocracy. They were not tolerant of religious freedom, to say the least, and they punished dissent ruthlessly, even by death. The left wants to change you politically, to force you, by violence if necessary, to accept its political views whether you like it or not. The word "force" is an unavoidable term in the discussion of political correctness, for political correctness is synonymous with forced behavioral change. The words "political correctness" are therefore apt. The agenda is defined by the word "politically" and executed through the cultural term "correctness." It is an attempt to make you behave “correctly” by forcing you to believe a given set of political propositions.

"A GREAT AMERICAN"

Tuesday, May 20, 2008 - This afternoon, Constitution Party presidential candidate, Chuck Baldwin, was a guest on Alex Jones' radio show. Baldwin had the opportunity to discuss his campaign and his platform with Alex Jones. Jones' program is heard over many radio stations across the country, and thousands of listeners hear the program online everyday.

Part of the topic of the day on Jones' show was the militarization of local police forces. Baldwin said this is a disturbing trend that is no way provided for in the Constitution. He noted that the federal government has no authority to conduct or control law enforcement. Baldwin said that such actions have increased the American people's distrust of their government, and that it is impossible for government to function properly if it does not have the trust of the citizens.

Baldwin said that the US government has become more concerned about international and global interests than what is actually going on here at home. He said that the complete breakdown of law and order on the border with Mexico is a good example of this.

Baldwin promised that should he be elected president he will be willing to use whatever force necessary on the border in order to protect US territory and the citizens of the United States of America. He said he will use the Border Patrol and the National Guard to close the border and protect it. He also promised to prosecute and and all emplyers who break the law by hiring illegals.

Baldwin said that his stand is in stark contrast to that of Republican presidential candidate John McCain. As has been reported in many sources, John McCain is scheduled to speak before pro-illegal immigration group La Raza, whose ultimate goal is to reclaim the American Southwest from the "gringos" with deadly force if necessary. Baldwin questioned McCain's integrity in agreeing to speak before such a group. Baldwin said that earlier today McCain was on CNN statting that the United States and Latin America has a common destiny.

During the interview Jones called Chuck Baldwin "one of the best candidates they [the Constitution Party] has nominated in a long time." Jones mentioned that he was glad that Baldwin won over neo-con Alan Keyes, and asked Baldwin why he won over Keyes. Baldwin said that he won on the strength of his message.

In reference to this years' choices from the Democrats and Republicans, Baldwin said that there is very little difference between McCain, Obama and Clinton, and that conservatives and Christians are looking for an alternative.

Baldwin said that recently his campaign picked up the endorsement of two retired brigadier generals, and that he feels this is only the beginning of military personnel backing him because of his message.

Baldwin named the New World Order as one of the biggest threats to American sovereignty. He believes that in the last fifty years Americans have been conditioned so that a North American union can be established by 2010, and some kind of world government by 2015. Baldwin said that if he is elected the SPP, NAU, NAFTA, CAFTA, and the FTAA will all be dead on arrival, because the infringement upon our sovereignty must be stopped before it s too late.

Baldwin summarized his platform by saying that we should:

*Close the border, end illegal immigration
*Get out of the North American Union/SPP
*End foreign aid, interventionism, and nation building
*Get out of the UN, and the UN out of America
*End the federal income tax
*Restore the Constitution
*Get rid of the PATRIOT Act
*Restore freedom
*Never go to war without a declaration of war
*Protect our territory and people

Baldwin said none of this is new: it is the same vision of freedom given to us by the FOunding Fathers.

Baldwin closed his part of the interview by saying that "The American people have not rejected our message, they have not heard our message."

Alex Jones said that he will not be supporting Bob Barr should he win the Libertarian Party's nomination, and that he is supporting Baldwin, calling Baldwin a "great American". Jones said he hopes that Ron Paul will back Baldwin after the GOP convention.

Constitution Party Chooses Baldwin
By: John F. McManus/THE NEW AMERICAN

Perhaps the strongest of Baldwin’s issues is the matter of abortion. He emphasized support for Ron Paul’s "Sanctity of Life Act" (H.R. 2597) that declares human life "shall be deemed to exist from conception" and bars the Supreme Court from ruling on the matter. Once legally defined as a person, insisted Baldwin, every infant in the womb would thereby be guaranteed the right to life — under the U.S. Constitution. He thundered, "If the Republican Party had been serious about life, it could have already ended legal abortion in America."
