Alarm as Russians restart long-range bomber flights

RUSSIA is resuming the Cold War-era practice of sending bomber aircraft on long-range flights beyond its borders, Vladimir Putin announced yesterday. The Russian president said 14 strategic bombers had taken off simultaneously from airfields across the country. He insisted the move was required to deal with security threats.
